I've lived in Bevo for over 15 years.  I don't plan on leaving anytime soon!  I love the location, the people & all of the cool little businesses that keep popping up.

I really enjoy living in the Bevo neighborhood.  We have great people, great food & great times.  I don't plan on leaving anytime soon!

What is a Block Captain?

What would I *really* be committing to??

With a goal of empowering Bevo to become a neighborhood of choice in the City of St. Louis, the Bevo Block Captains are committed to encouraging our neighbors’ involvement in the community. The group will work collaboratively with residents, business owners, the other Neighborhood Ownership Model teams, and the BBN board to develop and implement goals for improving the quality of life in Bevo neighborhood.

But what does that mean?

We agreed on the following duties for block captains:

  • Meet the people on our block, and welcome new neighbors – maybe a welcome basket with information on the neighborhood and the web site?
  • Initiate and organize block activities (National night out, Operation Brightside, block sales?)
  • Distribute important information
  • Communicate with other block captains and the block captain captain (BC squared)
  • Attend block captain meetings
  • Motivate our neighbors
  • Develop a (voluntary) contact list for our block with info on how our neighbors prefer to be contacted
  • Suggest improvements on our block
  • Develop outreach to neighbors who may have an impediment to communication – English as a second language, hearing or sight impairment etc.
